Christopher Dean - Collaborative Furniture

Christopher creates his furniture right here in Eugene, Oregon. I was initially surprised by just how much effort goes into crafting each piece.

His philosophy is to involve clients in the design process, creating something they can truly take pride in. This might seem counterintuitive in a world where most furniture is mass-produced, quick to assemble, and cheap. That might be more profitable but often leads to unnecessary waste of natural resources.

Christopher is committed to designing pieces that fit seamlessly into his clients' lives and spaces. He wants them to feel a sense of ownership in the design process and, ultimately, to create furniture that’s so well-crafted it becomes a family heirloom—passed down from generation to generation. This approach resonates with me deeply, as it's similar to my own philosophy in photography. It was truly inspiring to hear about his journey toward this vision.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the interview! :)
