From Blake: Flying firewatch I often witnessed the forest falling in rapid succession to fire and deforestation. Alone in the airplane, I felt like I was bearing witness to a catastrophe normally hidden by mountains and tree lined roads. Free from barriers, the sky was telling me a pressing story.

Meeting David Eisler brought some reprieve. He spoke eloquently and precisely to what I was witnessing. In this interview with David, we learn about our forests and how we can sustain them by reimagining our relationship with nature.

We need to see ourselves as a part of the natural forest community whether on a weekend hike or a day sitting against an ancient tree. We need to sense the wonder of the complex forest ecosystem and be the guardians and spokespersons.
— David Eisler
