What do you do?
I create beautiful, wearable art by repurposing materials with the goal of inspiring others to be resourceful with waste. Guitar strings, bullet casings, and vintage tin have become my favorite to work with, but I am always seeking new possibilities. I also like to work with vintage materials as they inspire creativity by reviving them into something new. Whenever an artist block comes along, I like to challenge myself with a new discarded material. That may include micro-plastics found on the beach or objects found on nature walks. Only when I have an object in hand, do my ideas come to life. I thoroughly study something to decide how it will be best utilized. I aspire for people to see how unconventional materials can be beautiful.
“Just because people throw it out and don’t have any use for it, doesn’t mean it’s garbage.”
-Andy Warhol
If you could be anywhere in Oregon’s nature where would you be?
Harris Beach in Brookings, Oregon. There’s a great tide pool spot.
